As you know, Sunday was Miles First Birthday..Yea!! It was a pretty chilly day although the sun did come out. It was a nice day to just hang out and listen to Conference. I kept thinking about you knowing that you were listening to the same words just in a different setting. I really thought Conference was so good. What did you think? Any talks stand out to you? I just remember eating Conference up on my mission, it gave me a boost. You only get three on your mission and I always looked so forward to them. Saturday night was Priesthood and it was pretty mellow. Mom, Lib and I went to Rumbi's for dinner and then went over to Grandma B's to hang out. It was just Hill and her kids, Aunt Ruthie and Grandma. Grandma hasn't been feeling well for quite some time. She has just felt weak with a sore/stiff neck and a headache. Her Dr. just told her it was a virus and kind of blew her off, but it went on for like 3 weeks. Ridiculous! Finally she just felt so sick and weak that she went to a Instacare where they drew blood and put her on some antibiotics. At last she is starting to feel much better. Anyway it was nice to be with her and talk with Aunt Ruthie and hang out. Aunt Ruthie passed her pharmacy test so she is happy and relieved.
Brad came down and went to Priesthood with his Dad and then Lib and Brad slept over at Mom and Dad's. I came over in the morning and we watched Conference together. I really liked President Hinckley's talk and Elder Oaks talk and the talk on service..I can't remember who gave it but he talked about the little boy who shared his butterscotch candy by giving licks to all of the other kids.
Anyway later it was just me, Mom and Dad again. Annie was moving her stuff out and into her new place so she was gone for a good chunk of the day. After Conference we went to Grandma & Grandpa Cain's for dinner. We ate Taco soup. They both are looking very good..Here is a picture that I took..
After dinner we headed over to Dave and Cicely's for the party and cake & icecream. The Suites were all there including Grandma Libby and Grandpa Tony and his new wife. When we got there Miles was crying. I think he was overwhelmed by all the people. Plus I think he was tired. He started opening some of his gifts inbetween some cries. I got some happy moments of him pulling the tissue out of a bag, otherwise he just wanted David to hold him. So Max and Tatum were loving it opening his presents instead. Lib, Brad and I bought him this car from Costco that he can ride on, most popular toy at Primary Children's. When I got there.. Annette and Steve had bought the exact same thing, funny, you can't beat Costco. Oh well, hopefully they can buy some books or other good things in exchange. I think it was a bit too much for Miles, he is so sensitive and he was a bit overwhelmed. To top the party off, the cake. It was a Monkey cake and it was dairy free, part of it being made out of zuchinni. They lit a 1 candle and put it in front of him. What did he do?..reached out and touched the lit candle and burned himself. It was all down hill from there. He cried and cried (he didn't get badly burned, but I think it hurt) and Cicely fed him and down to bed he went. Happy Birthday Miles..too funny. So we all sat around and ate some cake which was good and watched Tatum and Max play with Miles presents. Grandma and Grandpa Cain came and really enjoyed themselves. They really liked watching Max play on the car that we bought and Brad and Grandpa put it together. Brad and Lib left pretty soon for Mia's 5th Birthday and we left shortly after. Don't worry you didn't miss out..I think his 3 year old party which you will be here for will be a lot more fun for him and you! Nevertheless here are the pictures.
Well my little friend..I miss you more and more the longer you are gone. Mom was really missing you on Sunday. She cried..I think it was Conference and then she shared an experience about the conversion story of a man in their ward (I think she sent the story in a letter to you) and then missing you all together made her emotional.
I am so anxious to hear how you are doing after a week in the field. I have been praying much for you and for your companion. I hope that things are becoming better as you become more familiar with how things run in the field. Don't stress..I wish I wouldn't have stressed so much as I look back. Just work and enjoy the work, don't stress about numbers and how others perceive those numbers.
I love you so very much..I know that the Gospel is true, so true. I know that our chuch is true and that when people align themselves with it there is happiness and peace. I know that there will be people who are drawn to you because of who you are and because of the Spirit that is in you..Do good..and I love you..
LOVE.. Emily
