Miles at the Zoo

Well I have been thinking a lot about how I should communicate with you..should I write letters or should I email? I think I will do both! Yesterday I tried piecing together an email with pictures that didn't seem to work very well as you probably have realized by now. So instead I have created this little blog where I can send you pictures with commentary each week. I will still write you a letter each week and then blog my email with pictures. I will invite the rest of the family to add their pictures and emails also. I sent you a letter on Saturday, so I am hoping it reaches you by Tues or Wed. Yesterday was Columbus day, so mail will be a little slower.

Well as you can tell we made it to the zoo with Miles for his birthday. We went last Wednesday, your first day in the field. I was so happy when I got home from the zoo to see your email that you had sent. The day was gorgeous and nice and warm right before the weekend which turned cold and rainy.

First stop, the Ghost of the Bayou. As you can see he made Miles a little nervous.

He will only be here until the end of the month..
He wasn't doing much, just hanging out in the water.

The happy family posing by the elephant exhibit

This was looking at two black bears who were kind of wrestling with one another. Then the one kind of played on this rope apparatus. It was pretty entertaining
The Zebra was in fine form..happy to see us.

Miles enjoyed drinking out of my water bottle..
hasn't quite figured out the straw thing yet.

Like I said the weather was amazing. How is your weather in California?
Are the J. Crew dresses working? How strict are they with nylons in the field?
Working hard on a graham cracker..
I think the smell was starting to get to him..I know it was getting to me..nast
Miles reaction after learning he wasn't
going to see his Aunt Aly for awhile..
Just being his cute self..
After watching all the animals nap we got tired but stopped at the playground so that Max and Tatum could play. Miles stuck to this bench and played with me and mom. Practiced his walking skills. No first steps on his own yet.
Worked on eating the comb..
and then combing his hair. Just hamming it up for the camera..
Ahh.. a little post zoo fun. Miles loved this balloon from Grandma Suite. It was the hightlight of the trip. Acutally I think he had a lot of fun and was pretty happy for most of the time.

Miss you and love you..
Emily
